Opinion by Sue Viscomi
The Red Bank Borough School District has a true ally in Senator Jennifer Beck. Her constant advocacy has resulted in five different Commissioners of Education visiting our schools as well as additional funding coming to underfunded districts like Red Bank Borough. Her knowledge and passion for our children’s success has led both Republican and Democratic administrations to set aside additional funds for Red Bank.
Our children’s futures should not be a political issue. Senator Beck has been fighting for years on the issue of Red Bank school funding. It has been Senator Beck who has accompanied busloads of parents in Trenton as we advocated in front of the Senate and Assembly Budget Committees.
Senator Beck put forth her own solution to the school funding crisis in Red Bank. The issue of adequately funding our schools is a complex issue that requires thoughtful leadership. It is not and should not be a political issue used to score points during an election season. Red Bank residents, teachers, and parents know that Senator Beck has our back.
