Red Bank – The 7th Annual Red Kettle Classic basketball tournament was held last Saturday at the Salvation Army’s Red Bank Corps’ center.
The Classic, founded and organized each year by David Prown, began as an event to show off the then new home for the Red Bank Salvation Army Corps, but has become an annual fundraiser for the organization.  The money raised is used to support the Army’s mission, which, at present, includes helping some 300 families in need during the holiday season.
The daylong event, sponsored by United Teletech Financial, consisted of two tournaments.
In the first, the Knollwood Knights boys’ team and the Forrestdale Bulldogs girls’ team each took home a title.
The Red Bank Charter School boys took the championship game while the girls’ title went to the Seashore Sharks.

The Red Bank Charter School won its title in the second tournament of the day.

St. James, Holy Cross, the Knollwood girls’ team and the Forrestdale boys’ team also participated in the day’s first tournament.
The Red Bank Charter School girls and the Seashore Sharks boys’ team also took part in the second tournament of the day.
“The Classic just seems to get better every year,” said Captain Stewart Dalrymple.  “The kids and their parents and friends really enjoy it, and we’re proud to host it at the center.”
The Seashore Sharks took home the trophy for the girls in the Red Kettle Classic tournament last Saturday.
