Joan Doris Hogan Mahon, 84, was called to heaven on Wednesday, May 4 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan, of Naples, Florida, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her
family and friends. Joan was born on August 14, 1931 in Rumson to David and Helen Hogan. Growing up along the Jersey Shore instilled a never-ending love of the beach in Joan, which eventually led her to Naples, Florida, where she resided for the past 25 years.
Joan graduated from Rumson High School in 1949, where she was voted the most athletic girl, and went on to New York City where she studied fashion illustration and became a hat model for the Dobbs Hat Company.
On July 2, 1955, she married Vincent Peter Mahon, of Spring Lake, New Jersey. Together they raised four beautiful children: Cathryn, Tara, Brian and Paul. They led an active life and enjoyed many years skiing on the slopes of New England, sailing, and visiting their beloved Jersey Shore and Westhampton Beach.
Joan had a successful career as a real-estate agent, and with her vivacious spirit she made friends that she kept for life wherever she went.
Always active in the community, Joan was a docent at local museums and a volunteer for the Naples Chamber of Commerce and Opera Society. She also loved to play tennis, the piano, and enjoyed riding her bike in Pelican Bay, singing, dancing, traveling and meeting new people.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, David and Helen; her husband, Vincent; her sister, Anne; and her son, Brian. She is survived by her children, Cathryn, Tara and Paul; her daughters-in-law, Jill and Liz; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Emily, Caeli, Peter, Jenna, Claire, Megan and Caitlin; and her partner of 17 years, Richard Chilton Sr.
