MIDDLETOWN – The award-winning Mater Dei Prep Seraph Players will present the musical comedy “The Addams Family” at 8 p.m. April 4, 5, 11, and 12 in Memorial Hall on the campus of St. Mary’s Parish schools.
The Seraph Players’ production has the distinction of being the first performance of this recent Broadway show by an amateur company in New Jersey.
Cindy J. Dwyer, a 22-year veteran of Mater Dei Prep shows, directs a cast of 37 in the family-friendly adaptation of Charles Addams’ beloved comic strip and TV show. “The Addams Family” features a completely original story: Daughter Wednesday has fallen in love with a “normal” young man from Ohio. When patriarch Gomez and his beloved wife, Morticia host a dinner party for the boyfriend’s parents, it’s only a matter of time before the other kooky Addams family members, including those ancestors long dead, show their true, creepy colors.
