Eleanor R. McCann, 77, of Middletown, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Feb. 15. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in Middletown for over 40 years. She was a customer service representative for ShopRite in Middletown for 28 years before retiring in 2003.
Eleanor was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. She was president of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, Adoration Chapel Adorer and a CCD teacher, as well as volunteering in the food tent every year at St. Mary’s Fair.
Eleanor served her community and is a lifetime member and past president of the Port Monmouth First Aid. She was a loving and devoted grandmother, volunteering her time to coach her grandchildren in soccer and basketball.
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Eleanor Smith; her brothers, Thomas Smith and Joseph Smith; and her sister, Mary Radatz. Surviving are her beloved children and spouses: two daughters, Regina and Michael Conlin and MaryAlice and Bruce Smith; her three sons, Robert and Donna McCann, Andrew and Maria McCann, and Christopher and Tracy McCann; her adoring niece, Catherine Radatz; grandchildren, Robert, Timothy, Connor, Caitlyn, Tyler, Emma, Matthew, Margaret, Owen, Christopher, Sean, and Liam; her sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and John Siemann; and her brothers and sisters-in- law, Andrew and Anita Smith, Daniel and Christine Smith; and a sister-in-law, Maureen Smith. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at Mother Of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road, Middletown, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
