RED BANK – “Art in Nature/Nature in Art,” a collection of nature-inspired art presented by The Monmouth Conservation Foundation, brought out artists, art lovers and supporters to its opening reception Nov. 6 at the Oyster Point Hotel.
The collection is made up of mostly plein-air pieces from a dozen artists from the Two River area and beyond.
“They were invited to participate because of their reverence to nature, with the artwork reflecting just that,” said Lucy Kalian, artist and nature lover who helped organize the show.
The artists have agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds as a gift to the Monmouth Conservation Foundation.
Kalian says she got the idea for the show from all the time she has spent painting and appreciating nature, landscapes and the outdoors. She often sets up her stool and art supplies in scenic locations throughout Monmouth County.
“I thought it would be great to give back to the Monmouth Conservation Foundation for all the work they do” to preserve open space and natural resources throughout the county.
Artists’ work represented in the show, which is for sale, includes pieces by Avery Brighton, Tina Colella, Jasmina Danowski, Joseph DiFiglia, Deborah Redden and Skip Whitcomb.
The Oyster Point Hotel is located at 146 Bodman Place.
