Middletown South’s Allison Nolan Among Rowan’s Top Pitchers

JUNIOR PITCHER Allison Nolan (Middletown South) starred on the Rowan University women’s softball team.
The Middletown resident was second on the Profs in wins as she went 11-1. She was third in earned run average (1.89), And she was second in starts (14), innings pitched (74) and strikeouts (66).
The former Eagle appeared in 23 games and tossed one complete game. She allowed 58 hits and 26 runs, including 20 earned. She surrendered 21 walks, 11 doubles, one triple and two homers.
Nolan, who held hitters to a .211 batting average, unleashed one wild pitch. She hit three batters.
Gettysburg College junior infielder Henry Klimowicz (Christian Brothers Academy) batted .297, stroking 41 hits in 138 at-bats.
Among his hits were four doubles, two triples and one home run. He drove in 18 runs and scored 17. He notched 52 total bases and drew six walks. He was hit by three pitches.
Klimowicz, an Allenhurst resident, appeared in 33 games and started 33.
Wagner College junior Ryan Spahr (Red Bank Catholic) posted a 1.35 earned run average in eight games, all in relief.
In 6 2/3 innings, he allowed six hits, walked four, struck out eight and hit four batters. Alvernia University sophomore outfielder Joe Iacobellis (Red Bank Catholic) batted .236 in 31 games, including 18 as a starter.
The Morganville resident stole four bases in five attempts, plated 12 runs, scored 15 and laced 17 hits.
University of Delaware sophomore infielder Nick Liggett (Red Bank Catholic) hit three homers and drove in 11 runs.
The Red Bank resident batted .239. He scored eight runs and hit one double and one triple. He appeared in 34 games, starting 16.
Long Island University sophomore catcher Vinny Tranchina (Red Bank Catholic) played in 38 games and started 32.
Tranchina, a Manasquan resident, batted .202. He knocked in six runs, scored seven and drove in six.
