LONG BRANCH – Monmouth Medical Center has introduced a Russian Medical Program, the only program of its kind in New Jersey, providing patient-centered, family-oriented and culturally sensitive health care to the Russian/Ukrainian populations residing in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The Russian Medical Program is a joint effort between Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and its Southern Campus in Lakewood.
“Our goal is to offer efficient, cost-effective and quality health care through individualized care coordination,” said program coordinator Yelena Sloush. “The Russian Medical Program offers bilingual Russian-speaking staff to provide culturally and linguistically competent services to the Russian speaking community, as well as dedicated bilingual staff for patients admitted to either Monmouth Medical Center location.”
In addition to a designated Russian-speaking patient navigator who provides individualized support for Russian patients, the program also provides physician liaisons who coordinate in-hospital care, referrals to specialists, communication with referring physicians, and assistance in arranging transportation to and from the hospitals, completing forms and translating during medical appointments.
Additional information about the Russian Medical Program is available by contacting Sloush at 732-923-7576 or ysloush@barnabashealth.org.
