A week after securing its first-ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory, the Monmouth University men’s basketball program captured on Friday, Jan. 10, its first MAAC road victory.
Four players finished in double figures and three more scored 9 points to pace Monmouth to an 85-74 win over Niagara University in Niagara, N.Y.
Juniors Deon Jones and Andrew Nicholas led Monmouth with 14 points apiece while freshmen Justin Robinson and Chris Brandy each notched 13 points in the victory.
Freshmen Zac Tillman and Josh James each registered 9 points, along with junior Max DiLeo.
“Tonight was an exciting win for our young team on the road,” Monmouth coach King Rice said in a prepared statement. “I think Niagara is a tough team to prepare for and we had to do some things that we haven’t done all year, to be able to get this win. I am so proud of our young big kids, in their first start together, it’s going so well for them. They are going to continue to get better and our team is going to continue to get better.”
