Monmouth University Inaugurates Its 8th President

WEST LONG BRANCH – The inauguration of Dr. Paul R. Brown as eighth president of Monmouth University was held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, on the outside steps of Wilson Hall.
Robert B. Sculthorpe, a 1963 graduate of the university and chair of the board of trustees, presided over the inauguration. New Jerssy Secretary of Higher Education Rochelle Hendricks provided greetings from the New Jersey higher education community.
During the ceremony, Brown delivered the inauguration address and received the Chain of Office from the board chair. The president wears the Chain of Office at formal academic occasions, and it will be passed on to future presidents of Monmouth University, symbolizing an unbroken chain of leadership.

Brown, a respected academic leader and renowned scholar, became the eighth president of Monmouth University on Aug. 1. Prior to his appointment at Monmouth, Brown served as dean of the College of Business and Economics at Lehigh University.
