NG BRANCH – Morris Avenue in Long Branch will be closed to vehicle traffic after 10 a.m. on Monday, June 24. The closure is expected to last up to five days.
“Inspections revealed a water main leak caused damage to a county culvert under Morris Avenue,” said Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone. “To complete the repair, the roadway must be closed to all vehicle traffic.”
An emergency water main leak repair will begin on Monday, June 24, after rush hour traffic. Morris Avenue will be closed between Division Street and Broadway. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the close of business on Friday, June 28.
“The county understands the inconvenience that this closure will have on the motoring public in the area,” Arnone said. “Our main concern is for the safety of the travelling public and all efforts will be made to maintain traffic flow in that area during repairs.”
The road will be open to local traffic, but there will be no throughway in the area of the culvert. Detours will be posted.
