Alissa Jane VanDeventer and Daniel Patrick Floyd were married on August 6, 2011 at St. Luke’s Church in Hot Springs, Virginia by the Reverend David Cox. The bride’s sister, Meghan Stiffler of Houston, Texas, served as matron of honor. The best man was Matthew Hunter of New York City, childhood friend of the groom. A reception followed at the Homestead Resort, Hot Springs, Virginia.
The bride is the daughter of Peter and Susan VanDeventer and is a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is also a graduate of the Business Bridge Program at Dartmouth University, Tuck School of Business. She earned her Master’s degree in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. She is employed as project manager in the department of continuing and professional education, Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, Virginia.
The groom is the son of Terry and Donna Floyd of Greensboro, North Carolina and is a graduate of Western Guilford High School in Greensboro. He received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the United Stated Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. He earned an additional Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is currently a third year medical student at The Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va.
After a honeymoon in Maui, the couple now resides in Blacksburg, Virginia.
