MIDDLETOWN – The Garden Club R.F.D. of Middletown will honor members Martha Marcickiewicz of Red Bank and Lydia Wikoff of Freehold with the Perennial Bloom Award at its May 20 meeting at The Little Red Schoolhouse on Middletown-Lincroft Road.
The Perennial Bloom Award is an award established by the Central Atlantic Region of the National Garden Club in 2011. It honors longtime members for their years of dedicated support and service to the garden club of which they are a member.
Marcickiewicz, 90, has been a member for the past 35 years and Wikoff, 92, for the past 39 years. They both regularly attend the monthly meetings of the club and participate in events.
Marcickiewicz was the club’s corresponding secretary and librarian for over a decade while Wikoff currently serves as the historian for Garden Club R.F.D. As gardeners, Marcickiewicz has been especially focused on roses, while Wikoff’s specialty  has been  herbs and vegetables. They are reliable experts in their chosen field.
The May 20 meeting will also feature a talk on container gardening presented by Sandy Wolfe, a Master Gardener and president of Rutgers Master Gardeners of Monmouth County. Katie O’Brien will also speak about “How the Ferns of Today Evolved.”
