The 2015-16 school year marks a new chapter in the leadership at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA).
Ross Fales begins his first year as principal of CBA, the ninth principal in school history and the second layperson to assume the role. Fales has been a member of the CBA faculty since 2002 and had served as associate principal for Student Affairs since 2007. A former teacher and coach, Fales is also a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools Mission Executive Council.
Joining Fales is Joseph Finn as CBA’s new Dean of Students. Having worked most recently in corporate counseling and with prior experience in the academy’s guidance department (from 1999-2004), Finn returns to his alma mater to focus on student behavior and supporting faculty.
Sean Nunan begins his third year as associate principal for Academic Affairs. His work will continue to improve upon CBA’s core curriculum, academic offerings, and enrichment opportunities for the over 1,000 students who attend.
Maureen Szablewski, a teacher and fixture of the academy’s extracurricular offerings, has begun her first year as director of Student Life, a newly created position focused on CBA’s ever-growing extracurricular offerings. The school currently has over 40 distinct extracurricular clubs and activities.
Vito Chiaravalloti II begins his second year as athletic director for the Academy. The school participates in 18 interscholastic sports with over 50 percent of the student body playing for one or more teams. Additionally, last year marked CBA’s seventh winning of the ShopRite Cup, a point-based award that recognizes the highest performing high school sports programs in New Jersey. CBA was the top finisher in the statewide award program with 193 points earned.
