Night Grooves: Live Music In Area Clubs In March

Pat Guadagno

By Uncle Mike

WHILE THE IDES Of March will be in full swing on March 15, the early part of the month is playing out more to the tune of a West Side Story! After 20 odd years of performing at The Downtown on Monday nights, troubadour extraordinaire Pat Guadagno will be making the move from the east unto the west — the west side of Red Bank that is, when on March 5 he starts performing at Jamian’s on Monday nights. All I can say is The Downtown’s loss is certainly Jamian’s gain!
Another part of this month’s West Side Story is The Summer Of Love 2 Concert: More Music Of The Woodstock Generation which rolls into the Count Basie Theatre on the night of March 9. Presented by the Count Basie Theatre Foundation and featuring the multi-talented Glen Burtnik and his Summer Of Love Experience, this second installment of the Summer Of Love will take you back to the good ol’ daze as Glen and his fellow musicians recreate the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, CSN&Y, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, Bob Dylan and many, many more! So do yourself a favor music fans and grab your tie dyed shirts or blouses, dust off your elephant bells and head on over to the Basie for what promises to be a terrific night of blasts from the past !
