NEW BRUNSWICK – A new reference guide for those facing legal issues stemming from Super Storm Sandy is available.
The guide attempts to survey the most common issues and point people in the right direction. The lawyers and staff at McCarter & English LLP created the guide as a service to the New Jersey Bar Association and Volunteer Lawyers for Justice,
Handbook for Victims of Superstorm Sandy provides information on medical, housing, financial, immigration, insurance and many other issues in an easy-to-read format to help members of the public and lawyers.
“The New Jersey State Bar Association is committed to helping the legal community and the general public in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy,” said State Bar President Kevin P. McCann.
The release of the guide is the latest effort of the association’s Hurricane Sandy Response Program, which offers free legal guidance and information to the public. The association also has a free helpline to connect members of the public with Sandy-related legal issues with volunteer lawyers.
To date, more than 250 attorneys have volunteered to address the hundreds of calls the help line has received since it opened in the days following the storm.
