Festivities will continue throughout the morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. by Shrewsbury Borough Mayor Donald Burden and other local dignitaries, including those from the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
Ocean State Job Lot will also be giving away a variety of free food samples and a chance to win a $200 shopping spree. Various community organizations and businesses will display their information and offer prize drawings including the Tinton Falls Animal Care Center, Shrewsbury Police Department, The Community YMCA, Red Bank Senior Center, Shrewsbury Chorale, New Jersey Pop Warner, Guild of Creative Art, School of Rock, Fred Astaire School of Dance, Anytime Anyface  will create balloon animals and Butch’s Lube ‘N’ Wash will give away free carwashs every hour. WJLK-FM will host a radio remote at the event featuring Lou Russo and The Point Crew.
Job Lot’s grand opening celebration coincides with its “Silver Salute” senior discount program, which runs through June 11. Shoppers, age 62 and older with a valid ID, are eligible to save 25 percent on many of their in-store purchases at all stores during the savings event.
In conjunction with Job Lot’s community-first approach to business, a truckload of approximately 40,000 pounds of nutritious, shelf-stable food will be donated to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, courtesy of Ocean State Job Lot’s Charitable Foundation’s “Three Square Meals” Family Meal Assistance Program.
