Anita Belcher Pacheco released her soul May 31. Anita was born Alice Anita Belcher in Garrett, Kentucky Aug. 16, 1934 to Gladys Iris Hayes Belcher and Oscar Belcher. She grew up in Kentucky and Virginia, eventually attending and graduating from business school. Anita married Anthony L. Pacheco in 1956 in Gloucester, Virginia. She successfully raised four children before divorcing in 1974.

Anita worked for the Department of the Army at Fort Monmouth as an administrative secretary until her retirement. In her later retirement she succumbed to several illnesses, which eventually compromised her health, resulting in her death.

Anita is survived by her son Michael Pacheco and Wayne Howell of Savannah, Georgia; son David and Cindy Pacheco of Port Monmouth; daughter Susan and William Lindgren of Belford; daughter Joanna Pridy of Rotonda West, Florida; and their families; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Anita has asked her family to disburse her ashes in the Savannah River after a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers she asked that contributions be made to a memorial fund in her name at Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Kentucky.
