Stephen Mark Pascarella, 61, of Hazlet, passed away on Monday, June 5 at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. Born in Staten Island, New York, he lived in Red Bank prior to moving to Hazlet. Mr. Pascarella was a self-employed Attorney.

Stephen was a longtime resident of Monmouth County where he graduated from Howell High School in 1974. Steve then attended the University of Maryland on a football scholarship and graduated in 1978. While in the D.C. area, Steve interned with Congressman James J. Howard and was awarded the LBJ Scholarship. He volunteered with a variety of political campaigns including Jimmy Carter.

In 1981, Steve enrolled at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated cum laude and received the Alumni Distinguished Student Award for his graduating class of 1983. Steve became a member of the NJ Bar in May 1984 and began his lifelong practice in criminal law including appearing before the NJ Supreme Court where he successfully argued a constitutional case.

Steve was passionate about the law but he was most passionate about his family and the many important relationships in his life.

In addition to his parents, Steve loved his three brothers and their families and was a proud and loving uncle to each of his nieces and nephews, Brian, Michael, Katie, Laura, Leona and Jeffrey. Steve’s family and friends including his loving friend, Lori, will deeply miss him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Leona Burnside Pascarella; and a brother, Jeffrey Pascarella.

Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas L. and Sandra Pascarella of Freehold Township and David V. and Claudia Pascarella of Bridgewater, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
