Pedestrian Struck on Route 35 in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – A 25-year old man walking alongside Route 35 in the Fairview section sustained multiple fractures after he was struck by a motor vehicle just after midnight on New Year’s Day, according to Middletown Police.
The man, whose name has not been released by police, was treated by Fairview First Aid Squad and taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to Det. Lt. Paul Bailey.
Police said the crash occurred at 1:28 a.m. on Jan. 1, in the vicinity of Andover Street.
The motorist initially left the scene but later returned. Police did not identify the motorist in their initial report.
The crash remains under investigation and is being handled by Ptl. Michael Reuter of the Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 732-615-2100.
