Dr. Daniel B. Goldberg, M.D., F.A.C.S., founding partner and surgeon director of Atlantic Eye Physicians and Atlantic Laser Vision Center, was honored June 15 by the presentation of the Daniel B. Goldberg, M.D. Mission Promise Award, given by Ranney School, Tinton Falls, during its 48th commencement ceremony.
To honor Goldberg, Ranney School initiated the award in his name. Goldberg was president of the school’s board of trustees for 10 years and served as a board member for 13 years.
The award, which was given for the first time this year, honors the contributions Goldberg has made to the school. It will be given annually to a faculty member or academic leader at Ranney School who demonstrates sustained leadership, paving the way for others to reach their full potential.
This year’s award was given to the school’s College Office Leadership Team, a group of educators and leaders who, together, exemplify the mission promise in the work they do to advance the lives of all Ranney students as they transition from students to graduates. The team members were Myra Simpson, Adam Materasso and Joe Tweed.
Goldberg served as president of the Ranney School Board of Trustees from 2001 -2011. He joined the board of trustees in 1998.
Under his leadership, the institution experienced important strategic growth, including the expansion of academic and athletic facilities, faculty professional development opportunities and the formulation of the 2010 Strategic Plan, which has positioned the school for growth and success in the 21st century.
A resident of Rumson, Goldberg is a refractive surgeon – both a pioneer of LASIK surgery in the United States and an accomplished corneal and cataract surgeon. Atlantic Eye Physicians has locations in Long Branch, Little Silver and Holmdel.
