Red Bank Catholic’s Grace Correll (3) moves the ball between Monsignor Donovan defenders.

Red Bank – Outshooting their opponent by a two-to-one ratio, it seemed only a matter of time before the Red Bank Catholic Caseys would find the back of the net.
And, so it was in the 75th minute of the NJSIAA Non-Public South A girls quarterfinal against sixth-seeded Monsignor Donovan that senior forward Mackenzie Cowley found sophomore midfielder Abigail Shroba streaking across the middle who caught it on her left foot, beat one defender and fired the ball to the upper left corner of the goal for the score, the lead, and the win.
“We were right on top of it and she [Monsignor Donovan goalkeeper Morgan Smyth] made some great saves,” said Red Bank Catholic head coach Ken Santos.  “That’s the way it goes sometimes.  Getting the goal late was big.
“We were off for 10 days or so, so I expected a little sluggishness,” he added.  “I expected a flat first half.  The second half we came out and played much better.”
With the 1-0 win the third-seeded Caseys advance to take on the winner of Gloucester Catholic (7) versus Pingry (2) in the semifinal this Friday
