RBC opens it’s season December 16 when it competes in the Matawan Icebreaker Tourney.

RED BANK– At first glance, a 10-13 record in wrestling would not seem to be impressive, but that isn’t the case with Red Bank Catholic, which has been building a wrestling program at the school  for the past few years.
RBC was 10-13 a year ago, but it is the best record since head coach Joe Gallagher took over the team five years ago, and the future outlook appears bright with 14 wrestlers back with at least some varsity experience.
“We have 37 wrestlers out for the team,” said Gallagher. “That is our largest turnout in years. We have a lot of  freshmen out for the team.
“We’re trying to bring the wrestling culture back to RBC,” he said. “My first year here, we had only two wins. We hope to make the playoffs for the second year in a row. Last year we made it for the first time in more than 10 years.”
The top returning wrestlers are Andrew LaMura (182, 24-7), who will be playing baseball at East Carolina next year, and Dan States (152, 20-7).
Others returning are seniors Anthony Dorsi (195) and Paul Alwell (150), juniors Pat Walsh (113), Angelo Bailey(120), Chris Whitlock (145), and heavyweight Joe Maaneira (220), and sophomores Ty Decker, Ryan Schoer (220) and Tom Meer, both at 126, Brendan Clark (132), Shawn McCord (170), and Alex Spiezio ( 138).  The leading newcomer is sophomore Luciano DiNardi (106).
