RED BANK – Six Red Bank Catholic High School graduating seniors were awarded $1,000 grants by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore during an awards dinner honoring their academic achievement.
They are Kelly Mullaney, Connor McNamara, Kaitlin Leddy, Rebecca Losch, Brendan Clark and Patrick Toomey.
The students were selected from among more than 300 applicants from Monmouth and Ocean counties for The Brother Peter Mannion Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore Foundation Grants-in-Aid awards.
The grants award program honors the late Christian Brother Peter Mannion, a longtime member of the Friendly Sons and a member of the board for many years. Brother Peter was for many years the guiding light behind the awarding of the some $475,000 in aid to college-bound high school seniors of Irish heritage.
The foundation awarded grants to 32 Monmouth and Ocean County graduating high school seniors this year.
The grants-in-aid program is made possible by the successful fundraising efforts of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick-Jersey Shore Annual Black Tie Dinner, Commemorative Journal and the annual Golf Classic at Manasquan River Golf Club.
