RED BANK – Ringo Starr has announced another leg of his current All Starr Band tour, including a headlining performance at Count Basie Theatre on Friday, June 20.
Tickets, priced at $250, $145, $115, $89 and $50, go on sale to the general public at noon Friday, Feb. 21, through www.countbasietheatre.org, phone charge at 732-842-9000 and the Count Basie Theatre box office at 99 Monmouth St.
The date coincides with the Basie’s annual Summer Gala, dubbed locally as “A Little Help From Our Friends.”
The fundraising event will raise money and awareness for the Count Basie Theatre’s educational programs as well as much needed general operating support of the landmark venue.
The announcement comes as music fans nationwide commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ U.S. invasion.
“This will be a historic night for the Count Basie Theatre,” theatre CEO Adam Philipson said. “We couldn’t think of a more iconic artist to perform on the evening of our annual gala.”
Ringo’s musical legacy was celebrated Jan. 20 when The David Lynch Foundation honored Ringo with the Lifetime of Peace & Love Award. The event included a star-studded tribute performing from Ringo’s extensive catalog. Last month, Ringo performed his song “Photograph” on the GRAMMYS, followed by him jumping on the kit during his old bandmate, Paul McCartney’s performance. The two performed together again for several songs as part of CBS’ “The Beatles Tribute,” celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their first U.S. visit and appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, which was broadcast on Sunday, Feb. 9, the actual anniversary.
This “All-Starr Band” lineup is the same Ringo has played with since 2012 and features Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Gregg Rolie (Santana, Journey) and legendary musicians Todd Rundgren and Gregg Bissonette.
“I love playing with this band,” Ringo said, “and I can’t wait to get back out and play with them again.”
