Route 35 Accident Under investigation in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – Township police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred at a Route 35 intersection Tuesday afternoon, causing multiple injuries and disrupted traffic.
The collision occurred at about 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of New Monmouth Road and involved two vehicles.
According to detective Lt. Stephen Dollinger, the crash caused four injuries, with two of the victims being transported to Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and two taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. The injuries were not life threatening, Dollinger said.
The Middletown, Port Monmouth and Fairview first aid squads responded, along with MONOC paramedics.
Traffic was diverted for about one hour before reopening, Dollinger said.
