Clemencia Rubino, 91, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. She was born Clemencia Santos on June 16, 1924 in Manhattan, N.Y., and grew up in Bronx, N.Y.

After marriage, Clemencia and her husband Nicola, returned to Manhattan where they raised their family. In 1984, they retired to Florida and a few years ago settled in New Jersey.

She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Amanda (Patron) Santos; and her beloved husband, Nicola Rubino.

Clemencia is survived by her loving daughters, Carmela Grace and her husband Thomas of Aberdeen, and Dolores Messina and her husband Nick of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Cascio, Anthony Grace, Diana Messina and Michael Grace; and her adored great grandchildren, Billy Gagliardo, Joseph Cascio, Nicholas Gagliardo and Sofia Cascio. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Saturday, September 12 at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. In respect of Clemencia’s wishes, she was privately cremated and her ashes were interred with her husband, Nicola, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
