Rumson Girls Win Third Straight Indoor Track Sectional Title

TOMS RIVER – The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School girls indoor track team used two gold medals and a 1-2-3 finish in the 3,200-meter run to capture its third consecutive Central Jersey, Group 2 title on Friday, Jan. 31.
Senior Jacqueline Gottuso won the 3,200 in 11:23.79 and teammates Hannah Anderson (11:31.15) and Megan Hellman (11:31.17) finished second and third, respectively, to help Rumson to the team title with 88 points.
Gottuso added a runner-up finish in the 1,600 in 5:11.73 as Holmdel’s Marin Warner won the event 4:55.09.
Rumson’s Morgan Steinhacker (2:23.93) placed second in the 800 behind Wanrer (2:16.4) and Rumson collected a gold medal in the 4×400 in 4:07.96.
On the boys side, Rumson’s Jason Bryan won the shot put with a distance of 60-0 and Red Bank’s Xavier Chestnut won the 55 dash in 6.63.
Holmdel High School grabbed two gold medals as it placed second in the team race to Matawn Regional High School, 59.33-54.
