Salvation Army Provides Fun Camp Experience

Songs are written about it. Books are written about it. Many a film creates images about it that fill our memories for years.
It is probably one of the first forms of childhood independence as kids make their way to summer camp. Come time for school, there are plenty of tales to be told as they write their first-day-of-school essay, “What I Did Last Summer.”
Have you taken a look at how much some summer camps cost, though? Many parents cannot afford the price tag that comes with this experience, so their children opt out, not necessarily by choice. That is where The Salvation Army and Camp Tecumseh come in. We are here for those families that are interested in the summer camp experience but could never even think of affording it.
As the Camp Tecumseh brochure declares:
On a beautiful 400-acre property, Camp Tecumseh offers a full array of traditional camp activities. Some of these include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, athletics, hiking, and horse rides.
Camp Tecumseh also has a wonderful petting farm with sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits.
Operated and owned by The Salvation Army, Camp Tecumseh is staffed with a very diverse and caring group, hired from across New Jersey and even around the world. It is accredited by the American Camp Association, a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association and licensed by the state of New Jersey.
Children of all creeds are welcome.
It is a five-day, sleepaway experience, which creates wonderful memories and even lifelong friends, since most campers make it a habit to return year after year!
Camp sessions include teen camp, music camp, music conservatory and regular program camp.
Even better, the camp experience will be extended for eight weeks this year, starting from June 30 until Aug. 22. So though summer camp may still be 160-plus days away (who’s counting?) it is not a bad idea to start planning for it.
If you are interested in registration or more information, please contact Fei at the Red Bank Corps by calling 732 747-1626, ext. 105.
Applications are expected by March, but you can already be placed on the camp list to secure a space for your child(ren).
With an affordable opportunity like this, with only the cost of registration at $25, you no longer have to refrain from sending your child to summer camp. Your refrigerator will then have “This summer, at camp…” proudly displayed and lifelong memories to boot!
