Seniors Leadership Expected to Be Key at Middletown North

MIDDLETOWN  – With strong senior leadership, the Middletown North baseball team is looking to improve on last season’s 8-15 record.
The key returning players for the Lions this season are senior catcher Ryan Goscinski, senior first baseman/pitcher Mike Zibrin, senior infielder Jacob Bailey, senior infielder/pitcher Mike Bartels, senior outfielders Ryan Byrd and Matt Reilly, senior pitcher Frank Dente, junior infielder/pitcher Conor Youncofski and junior second baseman/shortstop Aaron Borrero.
The best of the newcomers for the Lions will be junior catcher Rob McCann, junior designated hitter/first baseman Vinny Pianoforte, junior first baseman/pitcher Reid Baker, junior infielder Ed Sena and junior outfielders/pitchers Chuck Estelle and TJ Vivian.
Also expected to contribute to the team’s success are junior outfielder Anthony Pianoforte, sophomore catcher/outfielder Anthony Vetrano, sophomore first baseman/pitcher Phil Pecherski, sophomore infielder/outfielder Seth Ziegler and sophomore third baseman Kyle Capo.
“Our goals are to try and win as many games as we can and to contend in the A North Division,” Middletown North head coach Mike Dooley said. “The kids are excited to get the season started and we look forward to the challenge of opening up our season against CBA.”
The Lions will travel to Christian Brothers Academy on Wednesday, April 2, to face the Colts.
