Shoppers Stock Up Ahead of the Storm

By John Burton RED BANK – Forewarned was forearmed for shoppers at Foodtown of Red Bank, Monday morning.
As snow began to fall, shoppers hurried to pick up a few necessities and take advantage of the relative calm before the predicted blizzard blasted through Monday and Tuesday.
“It’s been extremely busy,” all through the weekend, store manager Joe Collison said of the 362 Broad St. supermarket. So busy, as a matter of fact, “It’s record setting,” Collison pointed out.
Collision prepared by bringing in additional staff on Monday, having all 13 registers operated and ordering additional foodstuffs and other items that were flying off the shelf.
Shoppers were hunting out milk, eggs, bread, snow melt solution and shovels—all of which were running low and Collison said he was awaiting shipments for at least the foodstuff.
“People are understanding,” and have been behaving well, as supplies ran low, he said. “They’re awesome,” he noted.
Colts Neck resident Ginny LaMorte was there to pick up “a few last minute things,” including the few remaining milk containers. “I’ll be fine once I get home,” she said.
