Shore Regional School and Christian Brothers Academy have been awarded the ShopRite Cup for their top performing athletic programs.

It’s Shore Regional’s first time winning the ShopRite Cup, and the whole school will celebrate at a special assembly Thursday, with the marching band, dancers, cheerleaders and NJSIAA officials on hand to make the presentation.
“Believe me, everyone is really excited about it because it is something we talked about all year long,” said Shore Regional’s assistant principal for athletics, Harry Chebookjian. “We had a tremendous fall when we won all seven sectional titles. Kids were stopping me in the hallway, asking where we stand on the ShopRite Cup. “
CBA has won the Cup seven times since the program kicked off in 2004.
The ShopRite Cup is co-sponsored by the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). Six schools receive the award: four public and two parochial.
To win, the schools must accumulate points and finish in the top four places for the group’s state championship competition in 32 sports during the 2014-15 school year. Both schools also earned 9 bonus points for having no coach or player disqualifications in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.
Shore Regional earned the highest score in the Group I category among school athletic programs its size. The Blue Devils took first place in states for Central Section football and Girls Field Hockey; second place in Girls Soccer and Girls Lacrosse; and third in Boys Soccer, Boys Basketball, Girls Tennis, Girls Cross Country and Girls Tennis.

Christian Brothers Academy varsity athletes represented their teams at a ceremony Thursday when they accepted their 7th ShopRite Cup.
