Thompson Park in Lincroft was the site for the second annual Showdown at the Shore 2. The daylong rugby event was sponsored by the Monmouth Rugby Club of Red Bank. The matches were played in the seven format, instead of the full squad with 15 players. The showdown featured contests in four divisions, men’s, women’s, men’s open and high school. More than 40 teams signed up from all over the Northeast, including teams from New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey. In the high school division, Christian Brothers Academy of Lincroft was the only local school involved.
