Sickles Market Hosts RBR 'Battle of the Sandwiches'

LITTLE SILVER – Red Bank Regional High School students engaged in a “Battle of the Classes’ Sandwich Contest at Sickles Market last Saturday,
The event, which introduced Sickles new line of RBR-designed Signature Sandwiches, was held to raise money for the RBR Education Foundation and for freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes at the regional high school on Harding Road.
Sickles Market owner Bob Sickles and his staff joined RBR staff, students and administration (including Superintendent Jim Stefankiewicz and Principal Risa Clay) at the event along with RBR Education Foundation President Paul Noglows and Event Chairman Stuart Tartarone as well as dignitaries that included Little Silver Mayor Robert Neff Jr. and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-13).
A portion of the proceeds from each sandwich sale were dedicated to
projects that benefit the RBR school community.
The classes will utilize the funds to defray activity expenses, such as prom costs. The RBR Education Foundation provides grants to fund educational resources and programs for RBR students.
The class whose sandwiches sold the most will be notified of their win during the RBR Battle of the Classes springtime event.
The RBR Signature Sandwiches were The 2012 (Senior Class), whose ingredients included honey maple turkey with mozzarella, arugula, tomato, oil and vinegar on a ciabatta roll; the Buc Club (Juniors) featuring grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, baby arugula and honey mustard dressing on a tortilla wrap; Pirates Pleasure (sophomores) featuring grilled eggplant with fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers with a balsamic reduction on a hoagie roll; the Freshman Fiesta (Grilled chicken, Monterey Jack cheese with black bean salsa, avocado, lettuce, chipotle ranch dressing on a sundried tomato wrap.
