sportsSkimbash-fileSDL-IMG_0967SEA BRIGHT – The 10th annual SkimBash skimboarding competition returns Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7-8, to the Sea Bright beach.
Sea Bright is the fourth stop on Skim USA’s 2013 East Coast Pro/Am Tour schedule. This points-accredited, high-energy, exciting event offers thrills for all ages – both competitors and spectators.
Skimboarders from beginners to professionals gather for the two-day event to show off their skills and compete for prizes. The pro division showcases the country’s best skimboarders, who compete for a cash purse.
The contest runs from 9 a.m. to about 4 p.m. each day.
Families, teens and young adults will gather at Sea Bright’s beautiful beaches to cheer on contestants and show their support for the local skimboarding community.
The contest is sponsored by Jersey Shore Skim Camp and presented by Skim City.
Admission is free for spectators; competitors pay an entry fee.
“After Hurricane Sandy, we were not sure if we’d be able to hold our competition,” said Felecia Stratton, SkimBash contest director and regional vice president of Skim USA, the nonprofit association that governs skimboarding competitions. “However, the Sea Bright beach is in pristine condition, wave conditions have been consistently good for skimboarding and we’re proud to say we are indeed ‘Stronger Than The Storm.’”
