Joye Marie Socolchik, 93, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away peacefully July 7 after suffering from a long illness. Born and raised in New Jersey, Joye lived over 50 years in Middletown. She worked at the Middletown Township Public Library for 30 years as a children’s librarian. She was known in the community for her creative story hours, cheerful disposition and kindness. She was an avid reader and loved both art and music.

Joye was predeceased by her husband John Socolchik. She is survived by her daughters, Joy McQuillan, Mary Withers (Frank) and Jan Socolchik; grandchildren, Kevin McQuillan, Brett McQuillan (Kristen), Amanda Andriesz (Simon) and Andrew T. Callan III; and great-grandchildren, Reilly, Charlie and Mickey McQuillan. She was also the step-grandmother of Liz Withers Mode, Francis CS Withers III and Robert Withers (Patty); and the step-great-grandmother of Mariah Munford, Morgan and Lauren Withers.

Joye was well respected and admired for her generous spirit and delightful personality. The happiness she bestowed on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will live on. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by both her family and friends.
