Raymond Spernal, 88, passed away peacefully on July 11. He was born in Perth Amboy to the late Martin and Stacia Spernal. Raymond served in the U.S. Army, then resided in Edison while working for Westinghouse as a draftsman for 18 years, then became the proprietor of the Bread and Bottle Shop in Rumson and made his home there. Raymond retired in 1986 to enjoy travelling with his wife and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Josephine. Surviving are his loving children and their spouses, Ann Zsiga and her husband Tom of Edison, Martin and his wife Maureen of Edison, Thomas and his wife Donna of Metuchen, Christine Minsavage of Hillsborough, Paul and his wife Dana of Jackson and Joseph and his wife Suzanne of Fair Haven. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sharing Network, 841 Mountain Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081, which provided Raymond a cornea in recent years.
