State to Help Residents with Sandy-Related Grants

LITTLE SILVER – Borough residents interested in applying for state grants for help with Sandy-related repairs are invited to come to borough hall on Friday, June 21, for assistance and answers.
Representatives from the state Department of Community Affairs, which is administering the grants, will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to answer questions concerning the applications.
Borough officials strongly advise residents to submit applications to be in consideration for the first round of grant awards that will help homeowners with their rebuilding and raising of homes.
The Homeowner Resettlement Grant will provide up to $10,000 for eligible homeowners for work on their primary residence, with the condition they remain in or return to Sandy-impacted communities.
The Homeowner Reconstruction, Rehabili­tation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) program offers as much as $150,000 for eligible homeowners for the necessary repairs or elevating their homes.
