Stone Church Hosts Jersey Shore Food History Talk
NAVESINK – All Saints’ Memorial Church, 202 Navesink Ave., is holding a Victorian Tea and Talk with Karen Schnitzpahn, author of book about Jersey Shore food, at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2. Teas and period food will follow the talk.
Signed books will be available for purchase.
A Garden State native, Schnitzpahn enjoys researching and writing about little known aspects of New Jersey Shore history. Her newest book is “Jersey Shore Food History: Victorian Feasts to Boardwalk Treats.” The historical food-tour talk will cover the New Jersey coast from Sandy Hook to Cape May from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s on the historical campus of All Saints’ Church.
All Saints’ Memorial Church, also known as The Stone Church, is celebrating its 150th anniversary year of serving God and community. Consecrated in 1864, the church is a classic example of English Gothic Revival architecture and gained National Historic Landmark status in 1988. The church enjoys a highly regarded reputation for hosting a variety of musical, dramatic and cultural presentations in support of the arts each year. Proceeds benefit community outreach programs.
