A spring snowfall did not freeze plans for the annual Highlands parade Saturday. The marchers and musicians left Huddy Park as planned to the delight of fans who lined the mile-long route.
The incredibly well attended parade – adults, kids as well as lots of dogs – had Bay Ave cheering and then dispersing to Bahrs,Wind N Sea and the Chubby Pickle as well as other bars and restaurants in town. Pipe and drum bands joined MAST and other high schools with the Highlands Historical Society, local businesses, the Highlands EMS and fire departments as well as NOAH.
The 2015 grand marshals were Daniel Shields and Robert Higgins, owners of the Windansea Restaurant, and both Highlands boys. Daniel Shields is also the husband of state Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-11).
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade was well-organized. It lasted several hours and all enjoyed grand weather.
