A plan to provide 12 affordable residential units for veterans crept closer to fruition after Mayor Tony Perry and the township committee announced how they were addressing the project’s final hurdles.

FORT MONMOUTH – Shortly after 5 p.m. Feb. 21, members of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) unanimously voted to approve revised plans for Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth, a major production studio on 292-plus acres of the former U.S. Army base. 

The governing body approved and adopted the River Centre South Redevelopment Plan amid much pushback from residents whose homes abut the project along the Swimming River.

The Oceanport Planning and Zoning Board heard about the most recent plans for an age-restricted development, hotel and entertainment amenities at Monmouth Park at a meeting Sept. 12.

While scouting locations for commemorative markers along Fort Monmouth’s new Riverwalk promenade on Parkers Creek, members of Oceanport’s Historical Committee were met with “No Trespassing” signs in the East Gate development. Subsequently, Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) officials launched an inquiry into their origin.

Another site plan to construct a multifamily, residential development named Charleston Meadows was approved unanimously by the Colts Neck Planning Board earlier this year.

A unanimous May 3 Holmdel Planning Board decision approved a contentious affordable housing development near the Laurel Avenue border of Hazlet.

The governing body took steps to acquire a Birch Avenue property during its March 14 meeting, but left the borough some wiggle room for the future of the parcel.

An application to bring luxury housing units to a Rumson Road property was before the planning board again Jan. 10 and this time residents got to have their say.
