Defense always has been and always will be the staple of the Christian Brothers Academy soccer team. The Colts ability to keep possession and stifle opponents has been one of the key cogs in one of New Jersey’s top soccer programs.

The local wrestling scene boasts defending state champions and nationally ranked grapplers and there’s a new face on the scene who already has an incredible accolade before he makes his varsity wrestling debut.

Jack Wall has experienced great thrills in his golf career. He started as a state champion at Christian Brothers Academy and went on to big-time college golf at the University of South Carolina and Texas Tech.

Chris Gotterup first made a name for himself as part of the Christian Brothers Academy golf program and went on to become a four-year standout at Rutgers University. He used his fifth year of eligibility to spend one season at the University of Oklahoma; his brief time with the Sooners has him poised to be a name to watch in professional golf.

RED BANK – Red Bank Catholic head wrestling coach Joe Gallagher had tears in his eyes as his wrestling team posed with the first sectional championship trophy in school history. The Caseys have a lineup of young wrestlers who Gallagher thought would be making history in 2023 but instead, RBC arrived a year early following a 39-30 win at the Eck Center against Holy Spirit to earn the Non-Public “B” South sectional title.

BARNEGAT – Christian Brothers Academy was the favorite in Shore Conference soccer but there were some preseason prognostications who said Toms River North could be a threat to win the top spot in Monmouth and Ocean counties. So it was only fitting that the 12-1-1 Mariners would be standing in the way of the 16-0-1 Colts in the conference championship game at Barnegat High School Oct. 28. 

Local wrestlers competed at Hunterdon Central High School in a Super Regional April 17 and 18 with athletes from Christian Brothers Academy, Colts Neck High School, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and Red Bank Catholic taking top honors.
