LITTLE SILVER – Red Bank Regional (RBR) administration invited Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande recently to view the refurbishment of the RBR auditorium/theatre. The upgrades were made possible through the combination of a state grant {through the School Development Authority’s Regular Operating District (ROD) grant program} and RBR district capital reserve funds.
Commenting in a press release, RBR Superintendent Jim Stefankiewicz said, “With the exception of some paint and wallpaper, the auditorium/theater had not been updated since the building’s opening in 1974.”
The RBR school district applied for two grants through the NJ School Development Authority. The first, to renovate the auditorium, included the replacement of 280 orchestra level seats, carpeting, and wallpaper. The total cost of the renovation is $244,731 with $80,116 provided by the ROD grant. The second grant will upgrade the phone and intercom system to facilitate communication between the classrooms and main office. The total cost of the project is $100,642 with $30,257 provided from the ROD grant.
