RED BANK – For the past 20-plus years Yoko Ono and Legacy Fine Art & Productions have brought “So This is Christmas: The Art of John Lennon” across the United States as a way to honor his memory and celebrate his messages of peace, love and truth.
The exhibit, which will benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean counties, is returning after eight years to Red Bank from Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday Dec. 8, at 21 Broad St.
The focus of the exhibit is on introspection and how people have taken Lennon’s messages to heart in their lives.
Attendees will have an opportunity to see Lennon as an artist and, not only take a look into his mind, but experience “A Day in the Life” of John Lennon through his drawings, sketches and written words from his days as a Beatle up until his untimely death.
The world lost one of its greatest artists 33 years ago this Dec. 8. Lennon’s words and work continues now as in the past to enlighten, inspire and provoke people all over the world.
The exhibits have become meeting places for Lennon’s legions of fans to “Come Together” and share in his spirit through his artwork and songwriting.
Throughout the years the exhibit has been ever changing but the message has always remained the same … imagine.
The exhibit isn’t without controversy. Gary Arseneau, a Florida man who identifies himself as an artist and creator of original lithographs, has contended for years that the Lennon artwork has been altered and colorized so that they should not be considered original lithographs.
Two River area residents will get the opportunity to see the works for themselves from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
The exhibit will help benefit The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties which has the mission to alleviate hunger and build food security in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
