The Big Dig and the Big Chill

Two River area residents are digging out from more than a foot of snow that won’t disappear anytime soon  because very cold temperatures are expected to continue for the next week or so.
The temperature at noon on Wednesday was just 10 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, the temperature might rise above freezing only on Saturday for at least the next week.
Possible snow showers with small accumulations might be in order for the area for Thursday evening and late Saturday, the weather service said.
The frigid temperatures swept in along with the snowstorm on Tuesday. Many commuters were caught off-guard by the timing of the storm. Travel Tuesday afternoon was hazardous but slow going as most motorists crept along to reach their homes safely.
The gusty winds have resulted in drifts of the dry, fluffy snow.
