The performers are members of The Declassified, a cutting-edge chamber music society based in New York. The program features French compositions for woodwinds and includes works by Saint-Saens, Poulenc and Schmitt.
The Declassified was founded in 2011 by alumni of The Academy, a program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School and the Weill Music Institute. Upon completing the prestigious fellowship, the musicians were inspired not only to continue playing together but also to develop a model for artists who want to engage meaningfully with society.
In residencies around the world, Declassified represents a new type of musician: virtuoso, arts advocate and educator. They bring creative concert experiences to schools, hospitals and prisons, as well as major international concert halls. Projects for their current season include engagements in Iceland, Mexico and Hong Kong. In the United States their schedule includes South Carolina, the Julliard School, SUNY Purchase and Princeton.
This concert is an event of the Tower Hill Concert Series. It is presented free of charge; an offering will be taken to defray series expenses. The church is handicapped-accessible.
