Thom Lee named MBC Club Champion

Red Bank – Flying Scot skipper and Monmouth Boat Club fleet captain Thom Lee, Red Bank, was named Club Champion for the second year in succession at MBC’s annual HaulOut awards dinner.
Lee, competes with wife Amy or father-in-law Lyle as crew in the two-person, 19-foot, one-design racer. Lee had a successful season winning the best 24 races on the Navesink title. He also took top honors in the Flying Scot Spring Evening Series and Summer Series, second in the Spring Series, second in the Independence Day Regatta and third in the Summer Evening Series. He also won the one design Bridge Race series and finished first in the Laser Winter Series.
“I am pleased to repeat as Club Champion,” says Lee,  “It’s an honor to sail against such a competitive group of MBC sailors. Thanks to Amy and Lyle who alternate as my crew. Both have developed terrific sail handling abilities and are great to have on the boat.”
Lee was among more than a dozen of the Club’s top skippers and crew honored for their on-water success during the 2011 sailing season.
Winners included Bernard Friel, Rumson, as the Laser Champion; David Watts, Oceanport, Lightning Champion and Lightning Summer Series winner; Taugh Lynch, Little Silver, WoodPussy Champion.
Also recognized were Santo Pezzutti, Red Bank, Sanderling Champion and  Cruising Fleet Bridge Race Series winner; Jim Miros, Little Silver, Rowing Champion; Joe Burns, Shrewsbury, WoodPussy Bridge Race Series winner; Jack Huntsman, Red Bank, Lightning Spring Series Champion and Jackie Cattanach, Miltinberger Trophy.
