LINCROFT – The Christian Brothers Academy Board of Trustees has elected Joseph R. Tort of Rumson as the new chairman of the board.
Tort, a member of the class of 1976, was appointed to the board of trustees in 2006 and has served as vice chairman, chairman of the audit and finance committee and chairman of the Project 50th Capital Campaign. He is also the founder of The CBA Jazz Series, now in its third year.
A partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Tort graduated summa cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Tort and his wife Miriam are the parents of two CBA graduates, Joseph, class of 2007, and Andrew, class of 2014, and a daughter, Sarah.
Tort succeeds outgoing board chairman John Giunco ’70, who joined the board in 1993 and was named chairman 10 years later. Also departing is Mark Hall ’71, who served 14 years as vice chairman.
“Christian Brothers Academy is grateful to John Giunco and Mark Hall for their service to the school,” said President Brother Frank Byrne, FSC. “During their tenure they worked with several school leaders and guided CBA through two major building campaigns. Thanks, in part, to their expertise, insight, and support, CBA is in a good position today with a healthy enrollment, modern facilities, and a $15 million endowment. We look forward to working closely with Joe Tort and our continued success.”
