APRIL 11 The Friends of the Middletown Township Public Library is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s, located at 1183 Route 35, Middletown. Cost is $10 per person and includes a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, orange juice, coffee, and tea. Tickets are available at the MTPL Borrower Services Desk, located at 55 New Monmouth Road, Middletown. No reservations are necessary, and tickets will also be available at the door. Donations are welcome. All funds generated from the event will be dedicated to community programming, educational initiatives and improvements to the library.
APRIL 11 Jeff Dement of the American Littoral Society will lead a trek along Fair Haven Natural Trails and will provide edification regarding trees, plants, and other inhabitants in the natural area. Meet in the Ridge Road parking lot on the north side of Ridge Road between Fair Haven Road and the playing fields at 10 a.m. Wear attire appropriate for hiking. All are welcome, but no dogs please. Free for all participants.
APRIL 12 The Monmouth County Branch of The English Speaking Union will hold a Downton Abbey-Themed Tea at Bingham Hall in Rumson at 3 p.m. The event will feature high tea, period fashion show, antique jewelry, English tea sandwiches, and confections. Student winners of the Shakespeare competition will also reprise their recitations of monologues and sonnets and receive their prizes. Tickets are $20 per person, fully tax deductible, and support the scholarships for local teachers.
APRIL 12 Red Bank Street Fair & Craft Show will be held on the downtown streets.
APRIL 13 Rumson Fair Haven High School will be hosting “A Night of Future Broadway Stars” to benefit the Covenant House Asbury Park program, at 7 p.m. Students from seven high schools in Monmouth County will be performing alongside Broadway stars. Covenant House is a homeless shelter for teenagers all across the US, Canada and Central America. Tickets can be purchased on-line at chnj.booktix.com, and at the door for $25. Students and senior citizen tickets are $20.
APRIL 16 Atlantic Watch Pipes & Drums will hold an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Red Bank Primary School, 222 River St., Red Bank. Free lessons in piping, drumming and dancing are available to lads and lasses from ages 5 to 95. APRIL 17–18 The Ashley Lauren Foundation’s alumni branch of Kidz-4-Kidz, will present the musical comedy, “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” at The Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. for both nights. The Colts Neck nonprofit organization is dedicated to bringing hope and help to children throughout New Jersey who suffer from cancer through financial, material and emotional support. APRIL 17 The Annual Mother Teresa Regional School Spring Fling Gift Auction will be held at the Charles Hess Building located at the Mother Teresa Regional School, 55 South Ave., Atlantic Highlands. Doors open
 at 6 p.m., auction begins at 7:30 p.m. Over 200 prizes have been donated by the generous local businesses. Admission is $10 in advance; $15 at the door if tickets still available as this event sells out. Must be at least 18 to attend. Coffee and dessert provided. APRIL 18 Rumson Fair Haven High School’s Dance Troupe is hosting a Dance-a-thon in memory of George Giffin, a longtime Fair Haven resident and RFH science teacher, and to benefit the nonprofit Monmouth Day Care Center in Red Bank from 5 to 10 p.m. at the school. The event will feature five hours of dancing, dance demonstrations and other fun activities for participants 12 years old and older. Admission is open to the public. APRIL 18 The Annual FilmOneFest Benefit Dinner will be held at 7 p.m. at the Beacon Hill Country Club in Atlantic Highlands. This benefit dinner and auction raises funds for the free One-Minute International Film Festival in Atlantic Highlands that takes place in July. Tickets are $75 per person and include an elegant full buffet dinner, entertainment by pianist Laura DuBois, and a film presentation. Cash bar. APRIL 18 The Walk MS Weekend, held at Thompson Park in Lincroft, at 10 a.m., will help support cutting-edge research and life-changing programs and services for people living with multiple sclerosis. Walks will take place at 12 sites across northern and central New Jersey, rain or shine, that weekend. Participants have the option of walking approximately 3.1 miles on the fully accessible route. APRIL 18–19 The Rumson Country Day School will host its 46th annual “Whale of A Rummage Sale” to benefit the school’s Financial Aid Fund. The gymnasium will be filled with thousands of items at bargain prices – from designer goods to furniture, housewares, clothes, linens,
toys, books, sports equipment and more! The sale is open to the public free of charge and will be held on Saturday from 9am-4pm and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
APRIL 19 The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center presents Story Pirates, a nationally acclaimed theatrical group, at the Ranney School in Tinton Falls from 1 to 3 p.m. to explore health and wellness with children in a fun and interactive way.
APRIL 19 Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) will commemorate Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day with dramatized readings from Simon Wiesenthal’s
 book “The Sunflower” at 10:30 a.m. at 171 Ridge Road, Rumson. This program will challenge the audience to define their beliefs about justice, compassion and human responsibility and is being presented by members of the Rabbi Jack M. Rosoff Hebrew High School. APRIL 24–25 Disney’s “Peter Pan Jr.” will be presented by Ranney School’s fourth and fifth-graders at the school, 235 Hope Road in Tinton Falls, at 7 p.m. The Broadway style musical production features the classic tale of the Darling children and the adventures they share with fairies, pirates and the boy who won’t grow up. APRIL 25 The New Jersey Chamber Singers “Whimsy” Concert Series will perform at Red Bank United Methodist Church, 247 Broad St., at 8 p.m. Joined by concert organist, Kathleen Healy-Wedsworth, the concert will open with Benjamin Britten’s festival cantata, Rejoice in the Lamb. In addition to a set of songs completely dedicated to animals, the program features a few parody songs and multicultural folk songs from Hungary, Australia, and Taiwan. APRIL 25 The Community YMCA will be hosting a free community event to inspire more children to maintain both healthy minds and bodies. Healthy Kids Day, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well being for kids and families, will feature healthy snacks and more to motivate and teach families to develop healthy routines at home. The event will be held at the Family Health & Wellness Center, 166 Maple Ave., Red Bank, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
APRIL 25 The 21st Annual Spring Dog Walk & Pet Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. All proceeds will go directly to Monmouth County SPCA, in helping to find homes and care for the thousands of animals taken in. APRIL 26 The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County will be honoring Harriet Shugarman, “mom”– activist and founder and executive director of Climate Mama, as their Dr. Myra Zinke speaker for 2015 from 9 to 11 a.m. Every year the event brings attention to how women are constantly affected by the cultural concerns on women’s physical and mental health. The service will be held at the meetinghouse at 1475 W. Front Street in Lincroft.

APRIL 27 The library committee at Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) will once again be hosting Café Pinsky 2015, The Poet Next Door, an evening of readings by local Jewish poets. Named for Long Branch native, Robert Pinsky, who served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 1997-2000, the free event will take place at 7 p.m. at 171 Ridge Road, Rumson. APRIL 29 Calvary Chapel of Monmouth County’s reverend, Richard Shaw, will be leading a seminar titled “The Bible and Its Context” at 7 p.m. The seminar will be open to answer and discuss multiple religious questions that are commonly asked or misinterpreted. Meetings will start April 29 and continue for six weeks. The church is located at 810 Hwy. 36, in Leonardo. All are welcome to join and charge is free.
APRIL 28 The Seniors of Little Silver will hold their meeting at 1 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Little Silver, 111 Church St., Little Silver. MAY 9 Parker Family Health Center will host The Docs of Rock at Buona Sera in Red Bank for a gala of music, food and dancing in support of the Parker Family Health Center. The evening kicks off at 7 p.m. and will include a live auction hosted by Big Joe Henry.
