Ocean Patterns Knitting will be holding a class at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at the Atlantic Highlands Library, 100 First Ave.
The class is open to patrons of all ages adults, teens and children. Participants should bring medium knitting needles and medium yarn (knitting worsted) to class.

Monmouth Players presents an evening of Tennessee Williams One Acts at 8 p.m. Saturdays, August 16 and 23 and at 8:15 p.m. Sundays Aug. 17 and 24 at the Navesink Arts Center, 149 Monmouth Ave.

LITTLE SILVER
During the month of August music lovers will be treated to three free concerts, sponsored by the Little Silver Recreation Committee and the mayor and borough council.
For the first time, the concerts will be staged at 7 p.m. at the newly built “Butch” Ryser Memorial Patio behind the municipal building overlooking Borough Field. Families should bring their own blanket and lawn chairs.
Headlining and opening the concert series will be Little Silver resident Tim McLoone & The Shirleys, performing on Sunday, Aug. 10. Considered to be one of most entertaining Shore bands, the 10-piece ensemble features a dynamic blend of rhythm and blues, classic rock, country and Broadway with a healthy dose of “girl group” attitude.
The following Sunday, Aug. 17, Quincy Mumford & The Reason Why will return home to the Shore after touring the country promoting their fifth album, “It’s Only Change.” Mumford’s original sound is a blend of pop, funk, R&B, reggae, and surf rock.
Closing out the summer series on Sunday, Aug. 24, local teen rock group, the Stone Bullets, will rock the town. The Stone Bullets will be performing hot off their appearance at the legendary Stone Pony.
MIDDLETOWN
The Deep Cut Bonsai Society will meet 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, 250 Harmony Road.
Bonsai topics will be discussed and participants may bring their bonsai tree(s) to work on during the meeting. Bonsai wire will be provided.

MONMOUTH COUNTY
Monmouth County Historical Association is in need of house docents for its four historic properties. Houses are open from 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays to Sundays through September.
Responsibilities include giving tours to visitors, taking care of the house and the artifacts within it, such as dusting and polishing, and making sure the house is opened and secured properly.
Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
The historic homes are: Allen House 400 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury; Holmes-Hendrickson House, 62 Longstreet Road, Holmdel; Covenhoven House, 150 W. Main St., Freehold; and Marlpit Hall, 137 Kings Highway, Middletown.

OCEANPORT
The Cannon Sport & Social Club is looking for new teams and/or individual free agents, over the age of 21, to play in its Sunday morning coed slow pitch softball league in Oceanport.
The league is set to begin Sunday, Aug. 17. All ability levels are welcome and the emphasis is on having fun.

TINTON FALLS
The Jersey Shore Rose Society will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Aug. 23, in the community room at Kensington Court Assisted Living at 864 Shrewsbury Ave.
The beginner clinic will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. by consulting rosarians. The main portion of the meeting will be held from1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will include a discussion about preparing for the organization’s annual rose show, which will be held Saturday Sept. 13, at Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown.
